Dr Dushan Alponsu MBBS, MD FRANZP, IFAPA is a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry. He has particular interest in in assessing and treating work related primary and secondary psychiatric illness. Dr Alponsu is currently engaged in private practice on the Sunshine Coast, and also offers services for Ramsay Clinic, Caloundra and locum psychiatric services to Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia.
About Dr Dushan Alponsu
After graduating from University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka in 1998, Dr Alponsu trained and worked at leading hospitals in Sri Lanka. In 2009, he commenced RANZCP fellowship training at Royal Adelaide, Glenside and Modbury Hospitals in South Australia and completed his training in 2011. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and a member of the Faculty of Adult Psychiatry of the College. He is an International Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of Ceylon College of Physicians and a member of College of Psychiatrists Sri Lanka.
Dr Alponsu has completed GEPI 2nd Edition Guides (based on AMA 5) in Queensland and GEPIC Guides (based on AMA 4) in Victoria for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment. He is an accredited Independent Medical Examiner (IME) on IME Panel for WorkSafe Queensland. Dr Alponsu has provided medical reports to Work Cover QLD, private insurers, departments of State and Federal Governments, Department of Veterans' Affairs and legal firms.
